About Us
Water districts like ours were formed in the late 1800s and early 1900s to support agricultural development in the Rio Grande Valley. Today, we serve across Hidalgo and McAllen, playing a crucial role in local infrastructure. We’re not just part of the county or city systems; we operate as an independent public entity with significant responsibilities.
Our Mission
We prioritize the health and well-being of our residents by providing high-quality water services. Our mission is not only about delivering water but also about educating our community on responsible water use and conservation efforts.
Community Engagement
We believe an informed community is a strong community. Through educational programs and outreach initiatives, we aim to:
- Raise awareness about water conservation
- Promote sustainable water use practices
- Provide insights into water resource management
- Engage residents in local environmental efforts
Our Commitment to Resilience and Sustainability
We’ve proven our reliability through challenging times, including hurricanes and severe weather events. During the February 2021 freeze, we maintained uninterrupted water service for farmers and local communities, demonstrating our dedication to our residents.
